Life
in Oakville is much slower paced than the neighbouring City of Toronto (30
minutes away). The town is mostly a calm, quiet, residential community of
single family and garden town homes and upscale service
establishments in the heart of the community.
Real estate ranges from moderately priced
subdivision homes to grand estates on the waterfront. It
is a great place to raise a family and an equally terrific
place to retire.
The Public school system is
touted as one of the best in Canada. In addition, there are many
excellent private schools.
In the Summer months, the Oakville downtown area prides
itself on the abundant cascades of flower baskets, sidewalk flower
pots, and store front gardens. In the winter, thousands of tiny lights
fill the streets and the shops with the feeling of the festive
seasons.
The residents that live around
the downtown area are just as proud of their homes and often
name their properties a special title like: "Poinsettia,
Ivy Lea, or Oak Hollow". They fill their gardens with
expanses of flowers and special shrubs, picket fences, hanging
baskets, rose laden trellises, and intricate wooden arches
that lead to magical pathways that meander to wrought iron
chairs, bubbling ponds and cherubic statues. The wide front
porches on many homes say: "welcome" in a special
way.
Two
blocks from downtown is the panoramic view of Lake Ontario. Experience sailing regatta's
with sailboats of every description and colour. Lake Ontario keeps Oakvillians cooler in
the summer and warmer in the winter and the gardeners enjoy being in designated Zone 5, unlike the rest of the Greater Toronto area.
The town is full of hardwoods, as the name
of the town indicates and in the autumn, the area is ablaze of
colour.
Oakville is truly a magical place to live.
